The burial ceremony which was a final tribute to Late Chief (Mrs) Rachael Oja Omogbemile who died at age 95 on Tuesday, 27th of September, 2022 had many dignitaries in and outside Ekiti in attendance.
In his remark, Mr Victor Ogunje lauded his late mom for her sacrifices to ensure that her children got the best education she could afford and for being a dogged leader who is greatly missed.
“When you lose your mum, you give her a befitting burial and that is exactly what we are doing. And I want you to realize one thing: this my mum that died was a very highly charismatic person. She was a community leader; she was the oldest in the family; She was a titleholder among the women chiefs. So, she understood the local politics. She was a trader; she was a community leader;very vast in culture and tradition. So, she was a woman of so many parts and she played her role very well.
“And to the children: that was even the highest point she scored. She toiled and moiled to give us education; virtually all of us went to school, with the instrumentality of the woman. You know, she raised us, she gave us the best a woman could do for any child. So, we are very proud of her; she did well, and we pray that God should let her soul rest in his bossom.”
He also appreciated the Governor of Ekiti State and every other person who commiserated with him on his mum’s burial.
In his words: I want to appreciate the governor of Ekiti State, who was represented by the deputy, Chief Mrs. Monisade Afuye; my very good mother; my very good confidant; a fantastic fellow; very humble, and you could see the kind of humility she displayed while in the church. So, I am happy they were here, I’m happy and moreso, show a lot of gratitude to the special adviser on media to the governor, Mr. Yinka Oyebode, who came here to grace this occasion. Then, I want to thank the permanent secretary, office of the deputy governor, Mr. Opeyemi Abayomi.
” I want to also appreciate the NUJ chairman, Comrade Rotimi Ojomoyela for his financial support, his emotional support, physical support and many other support he displayed towards me. I also appreciate members of the correspondent led by Mr. Raphael Ogbonnaiye, I appreciate the correspondent chapel electronics.

” I want to appreciate my local friends who are here, the chiefs, the community leaders, members of Ogunje dynasty, members of Osoomo dynasty of my mum. Everybody; I appreciate all of them. And the church of God; For accepting us, for preaching and for also showing some level of solidarity. So, thank you.”
