Members of the Senior staff association of Nigeria University (SSANU) have demanded for the reinstatement of the suspended Union’s Chairman and Secretary in Federal University, Oye Ekiti (FUOYE).
This follows the suspension of the SSANU chairman and its Secretary in the University for allegedly raising unsubstantiated allegations against the vice chancellor.
The National Vice Chairman of the Union, Dr. Abdsobbur Olayiwola stated this after the zonal congress of the union held at the federal University, Oye Ekiti.
Speaking with journalists, he urged both parties to pursue peace in the interest of the University community, adding that the intervention becomes necessary to ensure the reinstatement of the suspended chairman and secretary of the union.
His words, “Members are suing for peace but when it comes to peace, it’s not one-sided. It can not only be established on the part of the union but should be established on the part of management.
“The Congress has resolved that while the union should also pursue peace, the management must also be seen to also pursue peace and in pursuing that peace, that have sued for the recall of their leasers who have been suspended by the management and the council of this University.
“Having acted on their behalf, if the management did not toe the line of peace, then the union shall not also hesitate to toe the line of war. They don’t want to give an ultimatum, it’s open-ended for now but they are expecting that having sued for peace on their own end, the management should also recall them and if they do not do that, the system may suffer collateral damage. The union may suffer but the management will also surely suffer on account of this action”.
