The management of the Federal Teaching Hospital, Gombe State, has sent stringent warning to its workers to stop engaging in cryptocurrency trading activities during working hours, stating that it negatively impacts patient care.

This was contained in an internal memo signed by the Deputy Director of Administration, Adamu Tela.

The management emphasized that any staff member caught will be punished according to the Public Service Rules.

The memo reads, “I am directed to caution all members of staff to desist from mining and all forms of related cryptocurrency trading activities during working hours.

“This warning became necessary due to a series of complaints from patients and their relatives regarding how these trading activities distract staff from performing their primary duties while on duty.

“Consequently, I am further directed to inform all staff members that the management will not hesitate to take drastic action in line with Public Service Rules against any staff caught engaging in such activities during work hours. Management has already deployed SERVICOM, ACTU, and Security Officers to monitor and ensure compliance with this directive.

“Therefore, all staff are advised to focus on their duties diligently and with utmost seriousness”.
