President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and former President Muhammadu Buhari have extended their congratulations to the winners of the November 11 governorship elections in Bayelsa, Imo, and Kogi states.
In separate statements, both leaders urged the victorious governors—Hope Uzodinma of Imo State, Douye Diri of Bayelsa State, and Usman Ododo of Kogi State—to prioritise the common good of the people over partisan interests.
President Tinubu emphasized the importance of fostering a harmonious and inclusive political landscape in their respective states.
He commended the electorate’s participation in the democratic process, highlighting the resilience of democratic institutions and the power of the people in shaping the nation’s political landscape.
Tinubu noted that democracy thrives when voters reward competence, transparency, and good governance.
Former President Buhari, in his statement, reaffirmed the confidence of the people of Kogi and Imo states in the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The National Chairman of the APC, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, expressed satisfaction with the victories, noting that Nigerians appreciate good governance and desire continuity in peace and sustainable growth in their states.
The Chairman of the APC National Campaign Council for Kogi Governorship Election, Dapo Abiodun, described the party’s victory in Kogi as “resounding,” affirming the ruling party’s dominance in the state.
Deputy Senate President, Barau Jibrin and former Senate President, Ahmad Lawan also congratulated the winners, emphasizing that the victories reflect the strength of the nation’s democracy and the power of the people to make their voices heard.
