The Minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola has described the presidential standard-bearer of All Progressive Congress, APC, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu as a competent candidate saying, anyone who underestimate his resilience and intelligence does so at their own peril.
Speaking on a TV Program on TVC News, the former governor of Lagos State (2007-2015) noted that the first state-bond of infrastructure and development in the country was raised during Tinubu’s time as a Governor of Lagos State (1999-2007) in spite of the Federal PDP opposition.
He added that all his polices made as a Governor have been adopted by ‘the violent Critics’ and have gained resonance in all states across the country.
His words: “Without a doubt in my mind, I have worked with him and I was the Chief of Staff for four and half years.
“So,you underestimate Tinubu’s resilience, intelligence, you do it at your own peril.
“Yes, he is a much older man but, let us remember that the first state-bond of infrastructure and development in this Country was raised during his time as a Governor and it was raised in spite of the Federal PDP opposition.
“That is the pathway that all state now follow to raise funding, there was a funding problem, we are still having a revenue problem.
“The Lagos State Signage and Advertisement Agency, LASSA was not only done to reform and re-strengthen advertising business, it was to also increase LG revenue.
“The last time I checked, 15 States on Nigeria have passed their own version of LASAA, 16 States have passed their version of Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, LASTMA, all of his polices have gained resonance, even by the violent critics.
“Now he said he wants to do this at the national level and you are asking me whether he should run, I will vote for him.”
