As observed by NEWSTODAYNG, some party leaders of major political parties were spotted carrying bags allegedly containing cash to sway voters at polling units in Ondo State.
Earlier, Voting materials and ad-hoc staff of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) arrived at most polling units in the Irele Local Government Area of Ondo State for the ongoing gubernatorial election.
At units 003 and 019 of Anglican Primary School Ward 8, voters were checking their names on the register pasted on the walls while officials finalized preparations.
Some voters openly admitted their willingness to accept monetary inducements in exchange for their votes.
During a private chat with one of the voters, he said, “This is how things have been for years. If they offer, why not collect? Everyone is struggling to survive.”
The election has attracted widespread attention, with security personnel deployed across the state to ensure a peaceful exercise.
Residents are hopeful for a transparent process, despite the recurring challenges of electoral malpractice.
Voting is expected to continue across the state, with results anticipated later today.
