Nigerian controversial Afrobeats singer, Seun Kuti, has expressed his criticism towards the individuals who were included in the list of national award winners for 2023.
Notable figures such as Davido, AY Makun, Kunle Afolayan, Victor Osimhen, Terry Waya, and over 300 other renowned Nigerians have been honored with the Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON) title, as announced by the Ministry of Special Duties and Intergovernmental Affairs.
Seun Kuti, in response to the national honors list, suggested that many of the celebrities and personalities who had previously criticized former President Muhammadu Buhari were displaying hypocrisy by accepting the award.
Kuti who questioned their true values, wondered if any of them would go against the norm and reject the national honors based on principles they claim to uphold.
“Half of the people criticizing this government as the worst thing ever dey go collect award for Abuja from the same government? No one will reject it on principle? Or Buhari don legit? Make una just tell me o. I dey ask for one presidential candidate.
“In the next 3 1/2 years now, we start the same dance again. What do you stand for? #Mafo!! #standwellwell.” He said.
