The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has sacked Senator Samuel Anyanwu as National Secretary and appointed Hon. Setonji Koshoedo, as the acting National Secretary.
His sack followed the Governors’ Forum’s recommendation and the Supreme Court judgment on the National Secretary position.
Koshoedo will remain the acting National secretary pending the nomination and ratification of a substantive National Secretary from the South East Zone at the next NEC meeting.
Anyanwu was sacked today at the NWC’s regular meeting held at the Party’s National Secretariat, Wadata Plaza, Abuja, aimed at repositioning the Party for the 2027 general elections.
Following extensive deliberations, the NWC endorsed the Governors’ Forum’s resolution to hold the Party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting on May 27, 2025, and to convene an early National Convention on August 28-30, 2025, in Kano.
The NWC also ratified the establishment of the Zoning Committee, chaired by H.E. Gov. Douye Diri, and the National Convention Committee, chaired by H.E. Gov. Ahmadu Fintiri, to address zoning of party offices and ensure a smooth convention process.
The NWC also approved the establishment of a caretaker committee to manage the party’s affairs in Delta State, following the defection of key members, including Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and former Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
