A ranking member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Femi Bamisile, has sympathised with over 50 landlords and other residents whose houses and property were affected during the rainstorm that hit Omuo Ekiti community and environs, on Monday.

Bamisile, who is representing Ekiti South Federal Constituency II, identified with the victims and shared from the pains at this challenging moment.

The former speaker said these in a statement released by his Media office in Abuja and made available to journalists in Ado Ekiti, the Ekiti State Capital, on Wednesday.

No fewer than 50 houses were on Monday blown off during a rainstorm that affected Omuo Ekiti , headquarters of Ekiti East Local Government and other adjoining communities.

During the wreckage, scores of people were said to have been homeless, with property worth millions of naira damaged by turnado.

In his response to the rainstorm attack, the Chairman, House Committee on Delegated Legislation, said he was rattled by the quantum of damage witnessed in the communities affected, where over 50 rooftops were blown off , with buildings having their walls collapsed.

The federal lawmaker expressed joy that no life was lost during the rain of fury that traumatized the community.

He promised to use his networks with the National Emergency Management Agency and the sister agency in Ekiti, State Emergency Management Agency, to ensure that all the victims receive palliatives that can relief their pains.

Bamisile maintained that he was uncomfortable and deeply depressed by the huge number of those that were dislodged from their residences and rendered homeless, describing such experiences as harrowing and excruciating.

The ex- Speaker appealed to his constituents in Ekiti East, Gbonyin and Emure Federal Constituency to embrace yearly turnaround maintenance on their structures and tree planting around residential areas being campaigned by Governor Biodun Oyebanji to avert being caught in the web of rainstorm wreckage.

“I felt so sad seeing my constituents being dislodged from their residences, with many losing property worth millions of Naira to this devastating effect of the rainstorm that hit our communities.

“I sympathise with you and share your pains. As your representative, I won’t abandon you at this moment. I shall stand by you by networking with NEMA and SEMA to ensure that you are captured among those that will benefit from the relief materials.”The occurrence might be traumatizing, but take it with equanimity and believe that all shall be well.

“To all my constituents, let us embrace those proactive and precautionary measures being promoted by government that can forestall rainstorm attack on our homes. Doing this will be to our own benefit”, he counseled.
