A retired Deputy Superintendent of Police, Sunny Anyanwu has announced a symbolic donation of ₦5,000 from his ₦49,000 monthly pension to a Naval Officer, Lt Ahmed Yerima who recently had an open confrontation with the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.

Anyanwu, in a public statement, said the gesture was aimed at recognizing and encouraging professionalism, discipline and courage among security personnel.

He described the officer’s composure during the encounter as exceptional and reflective of the best traditions of the Nigerian Navy, comparing it to the high standards of British-trained officers.

The retired officer, who served for 35 years before retirement, said the donation was both a gesture and a statement, noting that despite his modest pension, he remains committed to upholding truth and integrity.

He called on President Bola Tinubu to confer a national honour of the Commander of the Federal Republic (CFR) on the Naval Officer for his exemplary conduct and patriotism.

He said in part, “Though I live on a ₦49,000 pension, I remain proud to stand for truth, courage, and integrity in uniform.

“This young officer represents the future of our armed forces and I am proud to support him, even in my small way.”
