The Kano State Government has deployed the first batch of 380 anti-phone snatching marshals to fight phone theft in the state.
The initiative, under the Ministry of Internal Security and Special Services, aims to tackle the rising issue of mobile phone theft and is part of a broader government commitment to improve public safety.
Recall that the plan by the state government started in 2023 because of the cruelty and the seeming helplessness that the menace has foisted on the city.
This action had pushed residents to resort to mob action recently when a tricycle suspected to belong to phone snatchers was set ablaze at Kofar Kabuga in Gwale LGA of the state.
NEWSTODAYNG gathered that in the first five months of 2023 (from January 1 to May 31), the police in the state have arrested and charged to court at least 600 suspects for phone snatching.
