My 5-year track record as LCDA Boss makes me fit for House of Reps seat – Toyin Ojo

Adebayo Adenrele

The Chairman of Ado Central Local Council Development Area, Engineer Toyin Ojo, has declared that his five-year record of service at the grassroots has adequately prepared him for a higher position to represent his people in Ekiti Central Federal Constituency 1 at the national assembly.

Ojo, who spoke in Ado-Ekiti during the March Congress Edition of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Ekiti State Council, said his performance in office and close engagement with the people have strengthened his conviction that he can deliver more if given a broader platform.

According to him, his administration at the LCDA level focused on providing social amenities and responding to the needs of residents, which he believes have earned him widespread acceptance among the electorate.

The LCDA boss maintained that his ambition is driven by a lifelong commitment to service, noting that his background as a trained engineer and his involvement in service-oriented activities from his school days shaped his passion for solving problems.

Speaking on the political climate in Ekiti State, Ojo commended his principal, Governor Biodun Oyebanji for his unprecedented leadership and peace across the state.

He noted that the prevailing calm environment ahead of the elections reflects the governor’s inclusive style of governance, urging residents to turn out en masse to vote as a show of appreciation for the administration’s performance.

His words, “We are about 15 in the race, but like I said earlier, the future is in the hands of God.”But to me, I believe that by the special grace of God, He will give us the opportunity to serve the people of Ado Central, the people of Ekiti, and everybody.

“I think my performance in the last five years has made me popular among the people. My performance at the council has propelled me to think that I can do more for my people if I have a larger opportunity.

“At Ado Central, I was able to reach out to my people, provide social amenities and attend to their needs. In that small capacity, I believe that with a larger capacity, I will be able to serve them more.

“Like I said, my goal in life is to leave a footprint so that people can say he came and made an impact. That is very important to me. I believe my performance at the grassroots has propelled and projected me more than others we are running together.

“My secret is service to humanity. My background as a trained engineer and my involvement in service-oriented groups while in school prepared me for today. Everything I have done has been about service to the people. I have always wanted to solve problems and serve people, and that has shaped what I am doing today.

“On my principal, Governor Biodun Oyebanji, he is a godsend. Since 1999 to date, we have never seen a governor like him. People like us who are working with him are lucky because he has carried us along.

“The peace we are enjoying in Ekiti today is unprecedented. In the past, during election periods, there was always one issue or another, but now, with just a few days to the election, everywhere is peaceful.

“You can see that God is blessing Ekiti for giving us this governor. For me, the coming election is almost a walkover. However, we are encouraging people not to stay at home. We are campaigning for people to come out and vote to appreciate what he has done. We want to show our appreciation with massive votes”.
