The Zonal Head of Premium Trust Bank in Ondo State, Dr. Mojisola Daramola, has called for increased efforts to promote financial inclusion in rural communities with a charge to the banking industry to extend awareness and services to people living in villages without access to financial institutions.
Daramola made the call shortly after earning a PhD in Business Administration at the 30th convocation ceremony of Ekiti State University, Ado-Ekiti (EKSU).
The Business expert noted that many Nigerians, particularly in rural areas, remain financially excluded due to the absence of banks and limited knowledge of financial services.
She said her focus would be on reaching underserved communities to educate residents about basic financial practices and integrate them into the formal banking system.
Speaking on the significance of the achievement, she described her doctoral journey as a challenging but fulfilling experience that lasted seven years, adding that perseverance and faith helped her overcome moments when she nearly abandoned the programme.
According to her, the milestone represents not only a personal academic accomplishment but also an opportunity to contribute meaningfully to society through the promotion of financial literacy and inclusion.
Her words, “I’m very happy today. It has been a journey of seven years and God has been so faithful to me.
“There was a time I wanted to stop the programme, but inspiration came for me to continue, and today I give God all the glory.
“The gap I see is financial inclusion. I want people who are financially excluded to be included in the mainstream of banking.
“After attaining this feat, I’m going deep into the streets and villages where there are no banks, we can create financial awareness and improve financial literacy among the people”.
