The Senate Leader, Senator Opeyemi Michael Bamidele, has urged has urged the leadership of the All Progressives Congress, APC, to ensure that all the primary elections of the party are conducted peacefully, fairly and creditably.

The Senate Leader, Senator Michael Opeyemi Bamidele, has appealed to losers in the just-concluded House of Representatives and Senate primary elections not to see themselves as losers, but be optimistic that their time will still come.

The Senate Leader, who is a member of the All Progressives Congress, APC, gave the advice at his country-home, Iyin-Ekiti, Ekiti state, after a primary election that returned him unopposed for the upper house.

He said disgrunted aspirant should know that in such a contest a winner is expected to emerge, and he is expected to be magnanimous in victory.

He attributed his unopposed return to the Senate to divine grace, stressing his ability to serve Ekiti Central, pointing out that his string of infrastructure projects speaks volumes of his endearment to his constituency.

He added that he has transformed his constituency in multifaceted ways during his time in office, and will continue to do more to justify the mandate of the people who deemed it appropriate to say” go back you have done well”.

Bamidele listed his ongoing projects to include 11 mini stadia for youth development in Iyin-Ekiti, Aramoko, Okemesi, Ijero, Ipoti, Erijiyan, Ilawe, and a new site set to begin in Ido-Ekiti.

He also identified five intensive care units and amenity centres under construction in Iyin-Ekiti, Ado-Ekiti, Ijero, Aramoko, and Efon.

Other interventions, include blocks of classrooms across schools, distribution of over 100 transformers, installation of more than 6,000 solar streetlight poles, and completion of 80+ kilometres of inner roads in towns across Ekiti Central.

According to him”, all of these, for me, were made possible by God for me to facilitate in my position as a senator and as Leader of the Senate. I have given back to the people in every way that I could. He described his unopposed return as the party’s candidate as a call to greater service. I see my involvement in politics as a ministry, and that is why I am guided by the grace of God”.

He thanked members of the press for serving as a bridge between his office and the people.

On his National Assembly colleagues, Bamidele said every contest produces winners, but not every contest produces a loser.

“Losing a contest is not the same as being a loser. It could simply mean that it is not your time. It could mean that God has a better plan for you. It could also mean that geopolitical considerations do not support your aspiration.

“I believe I won the primary election, but it was not given to me. It was given to someone else based on certain geopolitical considerations within the party. I felt terrible about it, but I did not lose hope and I did not see myself as a loser”.
