No person of Igbo origin contested in Ekiti House of Reps primaries – APC

David Williams

The All Progressives Congress (APC), Ekiti State, has clarified that no person of Igbo origin contested in the party’s primaries in any of Ekiti’s six federal constituencies.

This was contained in a statement signed and made available to journalists by the publicity secretary of the party, Segun Dipe.

The statement continues, “APC wishes to correct false claims that an Igbo candidate contested and won the House of Representatives primary election in the party in Ekiti State.

“The facts are clear: no person of Igbo origin contested in the APC primaries in any of Ekiti’s six federal constituencies. All six aspirants who emerged as winners and will represent the party in 2027 are Ekiti indigenes resident in their respective constituencies.

“Reports that the party announced an Igbo candidate named Zaccheus Okoro for any federal constituency are false. The APC, Ekiti State Chapter, did not make such an announcement.

“Spreading these claims creates unnecessary ethnic tension and undermines confidence in the party’s primary process.

“Ekiti politics has always been issue-based and focused on local development, not ethnic profiling. Political representation is tied to residency, party structure, and voter choice within the state’s constituencies.

“The Arinjale of Ise, His Royal Majesty Oba (Dr) David Adetunji Ayodele Ajani, Aweloye II, has also stated that Oluwatoyin Zacchaeus Okoro, declared winner of the APC House of Representatives primary for his constituency, is not just a bonafide son of Ise Ekiti, but also of blue blood, and that claims of his being Igbo are untrue.

“The APC urges the public to disregard these claims and focus on the real issues facing Ekiti people: jobs, infrastructure, security, and economic relief.APC stands on its record and structure in Ekiti.

“The facts on the House of Representatives primaries are clear and the public should not be misled”.
