The Ojomo Oluda of Ijebu Kingdom, HRM Ojomo Oluda, has commended the judiciary for sentencing four persons convicted in connection with the June 2022 Owo church massacre to death, describing the judgment as a triumph of justice and a strong message against terrorism.

According to the monarch, the ruling serves as a reminder that perpetrators of heinous crimes would ultimately be held accountable for their actions.

He praised the judiciary for what its thoroughness, diligence and courage in handling the case, noting that the verdict represented a significant victory for the rule of law and the nation’s collective fight against terrorism.

The statement reads, “This judgment stands as a testament that the scales of justice can still tip in favour of the innocent.

“Justice has been served, but the memory of our fallen brothers and sisters must fuel a collective resolve to prevent such horrors from ever recurring.

“We must no longer treat security as the sole burden of government. Each of us is a guardian of our own peace.

“A society that sleeps through danger invites tragedy. Let us wake, stand together, and demand that every corner of our nation is fortified against evil.

“Justice may have been delayed, but it has not been denied. Let us cherish this moment, learn from our pain, and march forward hand in hand toward a safer, more secure Nigeria”.
