Ekiti 2026: David Mark, Aregbesola slam APC, exude confidence in ADC’s victory

Adebayo Adenrele

Former Senate President and the National Chairman of African Democratic Congress (ADC), David Mark as well as former Governor of Osun State and National Secretary of the party, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola have berated the government of All Progressive Congress (APC) in Ekiti State, saying the party leadership has failed to deliver their mandate for the benefits of Ekiti residents.

The ADC Party Leaders stated these in Ado-Ekiti at a mega rally, where thousands of supporters gathered ahead of the June 20 off-cycle governorship election.

They expressed confidence that the party would emerge victorious in the governorship poll, declaring that APC had failed Nigerians and could not retain power if the election was conducted transparently.

David Mark urged the residents of the state to rally behind ADC, saying the party and its candidate, Ambassador Dare Bejide remains the only group capable of salvaging Ekiti from the claws of poverty.

Also speaking, former Governor of Osun State, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, dismissed suggestions that the ADC lacked the strength to challenge the ruling party, insisting that the true test of popularity would be at the polls.

He said the APC might underestimate the opposition because of appearances but warned that such assumptions would prove costly.

The former minister maintained that the ADC would win the election if the process was free and fair, alleging that the ruling party would have no chance without manipulating the outcome.

His words, “I’m very happy that you are doing it here. If it’s more than this, it will become a problem. They say a needle is very small, but no hen can try to swallow it.

“It is good for them to think we are not many. We will meet them at the poll. Had it been they were governing well, we would be scared of them, but we are not.

“If truly they want to go to the poll without writing results, they can never win that election. Warn him so that he won’t waste his money”.

On his part, Ambassador Dare Bejide expressed his profound gratitude to members of the party for coming en masse to support him, pledging to always stand by their mandate if elected as Governor.

Also speaking, the party’s candidate for Ekiti North Senatorial District ahead of the 2027 general elections, Dr. Funso Ayeni urged the residents to cast their votes for greater future and better governance through ADC, stressing that he’s confident that the party would win at the poll.
