The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Ekiti State Command has announced a 5-day special enforcement exercise on the Road Transport Safety Standardization Scheme, RTSSS, starting Monday, July 13 and ending Friday, July 17, 2026.
The exercise, ordered by the Corps Marshal, is part of a nationwide drive to standardize road transport operations and reduce road crashes across the country and contained in a statement signed by RC Obinna Egesie, STSO/SO PE, FRSC RS 8.2 Ekiti.
Addressing journalists in Ado-Ekiti on Saturday, Sector Commander, Corps Commander Sanya Adeoye, MCILT, said FRSC operatives, in collaboration with stakeholders, will target 10 major infractions during the week.
According to the Command, enforcement will focus on non-compliance with the new legal electronic passenger manifest, non-registration of fleet operators, overloading, illegal construction of extra seats, and school bus violations including absence of seatbelts, escorts and speed limiters.
Others are speed limiter violations, overspeeding and dangerous driving, failure to fix FRSC certification stickers, use of worn-out and substandard tyres, and other RTSSS infractions stipulated by FRSC Nigeria.
Corps Commander Adeoye said the objectives of “RTSSS Week” include creating awareness among fleet operators, enhancing enrolment of unregistered operators into the RTSSS database, ensuring continuous implementation of RTSSS policies, and enforcing the use of electronic passenger manifest and certification stickers.
“Ekiti State will not be an exception to total compliance with standards set by FRSC Nigeria,” he stated.
The Command said patrol teams, RTSSS desk officers and Mobile Court sittings have been deployed to motor parks, highways and school zones. Defaulting operators and drivers risk arrest, vehicle impoundment and prosecution.
Fleet operators, transport unions and school authorities have been advised to regularize their operations before July 13 by registering fleets, installing functional speed limiters and fixing certification stickers.
Members of the public can report violations through the FRSC toll-free line 122.
