The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ado-Ekiti has called on the party’s governorship candidate in the just concluded June 20 gubernatorial election, Wole Oluyede, to shun his unbridled lies against his deputy candidate, Deji Ogunsakin.
The party leaders, who described the allegation as baseless and reckless, warned Oluyede to stop a sustained media campaign against Ogunsakin over the outcome of the governorship election.
This was contained in a statement signed and made available to journalists by the party’s stakeholders, Femi Odeyemi and Makanjuola Temitope.
The statement reads, “We have been observing with serious concern how Wole Oluyede has recently launched a sustained media attack against Hon. Deji Ogunsakin, particularly since the latter decided to stop responding to the reckless, baseless and careless accusations coming from Oluyede and his wife after the governorship election.
“Initially, Oluyede and his wife accused Deji Ogunsakin of collecting money from the Governor of Ekiti State, Biodun Oyebanji of the APC. When that allegation failed, he shifted his attention to the entire leadership of Ekiti PDP, accusing them of misappropriating funds. When that narrative also failed, he once again changed direction and began sponsoring media trials against Hon. Deji Ogunsakin over funds that simply do not exist.
“Let us state this categorically: your deceptive attitude, lack of integrity and inability to take responsibility for your own failures are responsible for your loss not Deji Ogunsakin.
“You lied throughout the electioneering campaigns. You made promises of resources and billions of naira that you never had. You boasted about political connections that you clearly did not possess. You claimed to have military support that never materialised. You also boasted about the support of the Presidency, despite having never met or even sat with the people you claimed were backing you.
“You created unrealistic expectations, misled party members and supporters, and ultimately contributed to the disgraceful outing that befell the party during the governorship election. Now that the reality of your failure has become impossible to hide, you are desperately searching for someone to blame.
“Oluyede, your continued attempt to rewrite history and shift responsibility onto others is becoming increasingly embarrassing. You have resorted to cheap blackmail, unsubstantiated allegations and an unfortunate display of ingratitude.
“Everybody knows that without the support and intervention of several PDP leaders, particularly Hon. Deji Ogunsakin, before, during and after the governorship primaries, you would not have emerged as the party’s candidate in the first place.
“It is therefore hypocritical and deeply dishonest for you to now turn around and attack the very people who stood by you when you needed them most.
“We challenge you to come out of your hiding and state clearly, with facts and evidence, what transpired between you and Hon. Deji Ogunsakin regarding finances. Tell the people what money you claim was involved, when it was received, from whom, and for what purpose.
“If you have evidence, produce it. If you do not, then stop the reckless campaign of falsehood, blackmail and character assassination against Hon. Deji Ogunsakin.
“You cannot lose an election because of your own failures and then manufacture excuses by blaming everyone around you. Take responsibility for your actions and stop looking for scapegoats“.
