Aare Muyiwa Olumilua, a former Ekiti State Commissioner for Information and Values Orientation, has congratulated Governor Biodun Oyebanji on his inauguration for a second term, urging him to consolidate his administration’s achievements and deepen development across critical sectors.

Olumilua, who also served as Commissioner for Investment, Trade and Industry, said Oyebanji’s first four years in office had recorded commendable progress in agriculture, infrastructure, youth empowerment, healthcare, education and workers’ welfare, expressing optimism that the governor’s second tenure would deliver greater benefits to the people.

In a congratulatory statement issued following the governor’s inauguration for a second term, the former commissioner described the renewed mandate as an opportunity to consolidate the gains of the past four years and pursue more ambitious development initiatives.

He said the administration’s interventions across key sectors had reinforced public confidence in the future of Ekiti State, stressing that sustained attention to the welfare of the people remained essential to inclusive and sustainable development.

Olumilua particularly commended the government’s efforts to strengthen agriculture, improve infrastructure, expand opportunities for young people and enhance access to healthcare and education.

According to him, these sectors constitute critical pillars of development and require sustained investment to translate government policies into tangible improvements in the living conditions of residents.

He urged Oyebanji to increase support for farmers, boost agricultural productivity and expand agribusiness opportunities in his second term, noting that such interventions would strengthen food security and promote prosperity in rural communities.

On infrastructure, the former commissioner called for sustained investment in roads and other public facilities, saying improved infrastructure would open up communities, stimulate commercial activities and enhance the quality of life of residents.

He also urged the governor to sustain priority attention to youth development through expanded employment opportunities, entrepreneurship support, skills acquisition programmes and innovation-driven initiatives.

Olumilua said continued investment in healthcare and education would help extend the benefits of development to more families and provide children with better opportunities to succeed.

The former commissioner also highlighted workers’ welfare as an important area requiring sustained government attention, calling for continued commitment to the wellbeing of serving civil servants and retired public officers.

He stressed the importance of timely payment of salaries, pensions and other legitimate entitlements, alongside improved working conditions and stronger retirement security.

According to him, prioritising the welfare of public servants would promote a motivated workforce and demonstrate the government’s appreciation of those who have dedicated their careers to the service of the state.

Olumilua further urged the administration to strengthen policies and programmes targeted at elderly citizens, noting that their contributions and sacrifices deserved practical support, dignity and compassionate care.

He expressed confidence that the experience gained and foundations laid during Oyebanji’s first tenure would provide a strong basis for greater accomplishments in the next four years.

“The experience gained, foundations laid and lessons learned during the past four years should serve as catalysts for more ambitious initiatives, stronger implementation and greater impact,” he said.

Olumilua added that the governor’s second term offered an opportunity to surpass the achievements of his first administration by sustaining successful policies, addressing areas requiring further attention and remaining responsive to the aspirations of the people.

He noted that the electorate’s renewed confidence in Oyebanji’s leadership placed a responsibility on the governor to demonstrate an even stronger commitment to delivering development and improving the welfare of residents.

The former commissioner expressed optimism that the administration would use its second term to strengthen Ekiti State’s position as a state of opportunity, progress and good governance.

While wishing Oyebanji wisdom, strength, good health and success in his second term, Olumilua reiterated his confidence that the governor could build on the achievements of his first tenure and leave a more enduring legacy of inclusive development and improved living standards.
