Ekiti Waste Mgt Board disowns resigned member, accuses him of disloyalty, laziness

David Williams

The Board of the Ekiti State Waste Management Authority (EKSWAMA) has publicly dissociated itself from Mr Wale Aladeoba, a former member who recently resigned, describing his departure as “long overdue” following what it termed a record of poor performance, misconduct and disloyalty.

Speaking during a press briefing held at the agency’s headquarters in Ado-Ekiti, the Board Chairman, Prince Oladele Adeniyi, said Aladeoba had repeatedly shirked his responsibilities, failed to attend important meetings, and exhibited a lack of seriousness towards his duties.

He said these shortcomings compelled the board to distance itself from the former member.Prince Adeniyi disclosed that Aladeoba, a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) from Igede-Ekiti, had been warned multiple times about his conduct but failed to make amends.

His behavior eventually triggered a petition from his hometown, Igede-Ekiti, which accused him of various infractions, including cyberbullying the town’s traditional ruler, Oba Emmanuel Aladesuru.

“In response to the petition, the board set up a fact finding committee.

Aladeoba who begged for forgiveness during investigation dated 6th May, 2025 Aladeoba admitted all his errors and promised to turn a new leave.

According to him “I thank every member of this Noble board for their patients and kind gesture for restoring love and unity to our midst once again. I want to use this medium to express my profound apology to the Chairman and the DG for whatever hurt I might have caused to them. I am indeed very sorry. May the Lord of love and unity continue to abide with us all in Jesus name”- (Mr. Wale Alade-Oba. May 6, 2025)

Adeniyi, further noted that a communique was issued and copies were sent to appropriate authorities, detailing allegations of conspiracy, dereliction of duty, acts of thuggeryband gross misconduct against Aladeoba.

The letter, he said, was signed by all board members. The chairman also criticized Aladeoba’s recent public attacks on the Oyebanji administration, labeling them as politically motivated and baseless.

He pointed out that the administration had recorded notable achievements in waste management, including the acquisition of over ten new Sinotruk disposal trucks and the increment of stipends for street sweepers across Ekiti State.

“These are measurable accomplishments. Mr. Aladeoba’s claims are not only misleading but completely false,” Adeniyi said.

Following an emergency board meeting, EKSWAMA members unanimously issued a communiqué reaffirming their loyalty to Governor Oyebanji’s administration and denouncing Aladeoba’s actions both during and after his exit.

They declared him persona non grata, stating that his behavior made him unfit to serve in any responsible capacity under the current government.

Other board members, Hon. Ayodeji Ajayi, Otunba Ayodeji Olorunfemi, Prince Obasoyin Bayode, Mustapha Abdulmojeed, Mojisola Adewumi, Omoniyi Ajayi, and Bosunde Olufemi, joined in expressing their support for the governor’s vision.

“We are proud of the strides being made in environmental and sanitation efforts under Governor Oyebanji. His vision aligns with ours, and we are fully committed to his administration and its continuity beyond 2026,” the board declared.

The board assured the public of the dedication of Ekiti State Waste Management Authority under the leadership of the Director General, Hon Olasunkanmi Onipede to maintaining a clean and healthy environment for all residents of the State.
