A human rights activist and the 2023 Presidential candidate under the platform of African Action Congress (AAC), Omoyele Sowore, has pledged to name Roads after Trees and Rivers rather than some political leaders, if elected as President.
Sowore stated this while appearing on a popular TV station, emphasising on the zero impact that some Nigerian leaders such as Sani Abacha, Ibrahim Babangida, Muhammadu Buhari and others, have made for the progress of the country.
He explained that Tress and Rivers have been consistent in their contributions toward impacting human lives, arguing that many of the leaders being recognised does not deserve the privilege.
He said, “Encomium are conferred on people who have contributed progress to the country and it’s just done in a way that’s not in respect of the people but history.
“If I’m to become the president of Nigeria, most of the roads named after some leaders will be named after Trees and Rivers because those ones deserve those places to be named after them at least they are consistent and they contribute to our ecological life.
“Whenever I drive on the street, I see Buhari road, Abacha road, Babangida road, that’s a sign of imbecility”.
