The Anambra State Police Command has arrested two suspects over the murder of a pregnant nurse whose mutilated body was discovered in a soakaway pit in Ogbunike, Oyi Local Government Area of the state.

This was contained in a statement signed and made available to journalists by the Command’s Public Relations Officer,, Tochukwu Ikenga.

He identified the arrested suspects as Somtochukwu Nwafor, and Nwafor Ofornwatadile, a native doctor.

Ikenga said Ofornwatadile was arrested at his shrine where the dismembered body of the pregnant nurse was found concealed in black nylon bags.

The statement reads, “Given the information from the suspect, Operatives of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in the early hours of 29th July 2025, burst a shrine of an identified native doctor, Nwafor Chibunna Ofornwatadile from Itima Amawa Village, Ogbunike and recovered suspected human body parts, concealed in cellophane (nylon) bags.

“Preliminary investigations revealed that the victim was lured to the residence of Chiemerie Elobisi, the prime suspect, under the pretext of receiving medical treatment.

” Somtochukwu, who claimed to be Elobisi’s girlfriend, confessed to being called in to clean bloodstains after the murder. She also alleged that body parts were sold to different native doctors in the area”.
