Sokoto Ex-Corps Member, Josiah Living bags Presidential award, scholarship, others

A former Corps Member deployed to Sokoto State, Josiah Living has been awarded by President Bola Tinubu in recognition of his outstanding and meritorious performance to humanity during his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) programme between 2020 and 2021.

Josiah, with state code SO/2013/0231, emerged as one of the 210 awardees of the NYSC 2020-2023 combined Presidential award which took place at the banquet hall of the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

The President awarded Josiah with automatic employment into the Federal Civil Service, a cash prize of N250,000, Scholarship from PGD up to PhD, a gold Medal and a Certificate of honour signed by the President himself.

Tinubu, represented by the Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Nkeiruka Onyejeocha, commended Josiah and other awardees for their discipline, selflessness, commitment, patriotism, teamwork and integrity.

Josiah, who hailed from Yenogoa Local Government Area of Bayelsa State, obtained B.Sc in Biology from Niger Delta University in 2019.

He was mobilised and deployed to Sokoto State for national service in 2020. At the close of the orientation course, he was posted to Command Day Secondary School, Giginya Barracks, in Dange-Shuni Local Government Area for his primary assignment.

Josiah’s passion for change and development inspired him to execute the various Community Development Service projects to address the felt-needs of his host community.

The projects included: Construction of four-unit toilets at CDSS, Giginya Barracks for staff and students to ease indiscriminate urination around the school compound, Donation of stationeries to the students of Command Day Secondary School, Training on liquid soap making for students of CDSS, Giginya Barracks and Sensitization on “Malaria Control and Drugs Abuse” at CDSS, Giginya Barracks.

These laudable projects earned Josiah the prestigious Sultan Award for Best Male Corps Member, 2020 and LGA Award; the first Corps Member to have won the two awards.
