Tinubu awards Ex-Corps Member, Sarah Kawonise with automatic employment, bursary, others

President Bola Tinubu has awarded a former Corps Member deployed to Jigawa State, Sarah Kawonise in recognition of her outstanding and meritorious performance to humanity during his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) programme between 2023 and 2024.

Sarah, with state code JG/23B/2722, emerged as one of the 210 awardees of the NYSC 2020-2023 combined Presidential award which took place at the banquet hall of the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

The President awarded Sarah with automatic employment into the Federal Civil Service, a cash prize of N250,000, Scholarship from PGD up to PhD, a gold Medal and a Certificate of honour signed by the President himself.

Tinubu, represented by the Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Nkeiruka Onyejeocha, commended Josiah and other awardees for their discipline, selflessness, commitment, patriotism, teamwork and integrity.

Sarah, born in Badagry, Lagos State, bagged a degree in Medicine and Surgery, Lagos State University in the year 2022.

She was mobilised for the mandatory one year national service and deployed to Jigawa State. As a medical doctor, she registered at the camp clinic and being a golden fish that has no hiding place, she was made the Camp Medical Director.

On completion of the orientation course, she was posted to the Federal University, Dutse, for her primary assignment which she accepted with all sense of responsibility and discharged her duties conscientiously.

Sarah established a Preventive Medicine Clinic at the General Hospital, Dutse. The clinic focused mainly on malaria treatment and prevention of maternal mortality as well as cervical cancer to the relief of many.

She went further to strengthen the clinic by purchasing digital Sphygmomanometer, Mercury Thermometers, Stethoscope and urinary test strip.

Her desire for the health of all made her to carry out sensitisation of over 100 students on menstrual hygiene and prevention of genital tract infection. She followed up the sensitisation with the distribution of over 100 cotton pants and disposable sanitary pads.
