A governorship aspirant of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ekiti State, Peter Obafemi has officially declared his ambition to vie in the forthcoming gubernatorial election in 2026.
Obafemi, who exuded confidence in his capacity to also take Ekiti people out of the claws of All Progressive Congress (APC), said he’s ready to take up any challenge mounted against him.
Speaking with journalists in Ado-Ekiti after meeting with thousands of PDP members of from 16 local government areas of the state, Obafemi said his vision is to provide children with quality and functional education that would empower their future, adding that he’s ready to make positive impact in areas such as health, agriculture, education, infrastructure, among others.
While also explaining that he decided to join the race over his passion for the growth and development of Ekiti, Obafemi said politics is a game of choice and anyone has the rights to support any aspirant and candidate.
His words, “Let it be heard across every village, every town and every city in Ekiti State; I, Obafemi is prepared to face any contender, any alliance, any political force, be it the ruling APC or a coalition of interests under it.
“I will not be moved by the noise of the moment, nor shaken by the storm of politics for we stand not on propaganda, but on purpose.
“We move not in fear but in faith and courage. Though the gates may tremble, we carry courage in our chest, we care not just about today, we care about change. We carry Ekiti in our hearts, we carry hope in our hands.
“PDP has always been the party of choice. PDP has always been the party in Ekiti State and we are not going anywhere. When the righteous rule, the people rejoice.
“Let me remind you, not every man who walks before a crowd is a leader. We’ve seen men walk before crowds and we’ve seen where they’ve led us.
“But today, I stand before you as a leader you can count on. A leader who walks with the people, not ahead of them. A leader who lifts up the Ekiti people and builds something greater than politics , a true homecoming of purpose.
“I bring to this place a wealth of experience, over three decades in public service, private enterprise and deep community engagement.
“I have created solutions where others saw obstacles. Now, I step forward to build a new agency one driven by innovation, inclusion, integrity and Honesty”.
