Ekiti ’26: Teachers threaten APC, vow to vote out party if Oyebanji is denied ticket

Teachers under the auspices of the Academic Staff Union of Secondary Schools (ASUSS) Ekiti State Chapter have promised to vote out the All Progressive Congress (APC) in power if the incumbent Governor, Biodun Oyebanji is denied the party’s tucket.

The National President of the Union, Sola Adigun stated this during a ceremony organized by the Union to officially endorse the governor for a second term in office, confirmed that teachers are ready to vote against the party if they deny Governor Oyebanji the return ticket.

According to Adigun, Governor Oyebanji has shown rare commitment to the welfare of teachers and development of the education sector compared to successive governments in the state.

He explained that Governor Oyebanji initiated various policies which had positive impacts on teachers saying the profession has never had it so good like this before

Adigun noted that to whom much is given much more is expected hence the need to declare the support for the Governor.

He highlighted thirty six achievements of Governor Oyebanji in the education sector among which are defrayment of all outstanding salaries and promotion arrears, provision of educational equipment to schools such as laptops, smart board, photocopiers and printers, upgrade of graduate teachers increment of subvention to subvented institutions training and retraining of teachers, approval of car and housing loans just to mention but a few.

Responding, the Deputy Governor of Ekiti State who was represented by her Chief Protocol Officer, Femi Ojo and the Special Adviser to the Governor of Labour Matters, Kayode Fatomiluyi thanked the teachers for acknowledging the efforts of the governor, saying such step would propel him to do more.

They called on the teachers to get their Permanent Voter Cards and influence their relatives who are of age to also do so so as to be able to exercise their civic responsibility without any hindrance.
