…urges Trump to give Nigeria 100-day grace period
The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has expressed concern that some individuals close to President Bola Tinubu have misled the President about the true state of insecurity in the country.
Speaking during the November RCCG Holy Ghost Service, Pastor Adeboye said he was troubled by a recent presidential speech that claimed displaced persons across Nigeria had returned to their communities, a statement he described as inaccurate and potentially damaging to the president’s credibility.
He argued that those around him might not be giving him honest feedback on the situation in the country if the president personally reviewed the speech before delivery.
Adeboye’s comments came against the backdrop of continued reports of violent attacks and killings in parts of the country, including the recent murder of a traditional ruler in the North-Central region.
He also advised the President to explore diplomatic means including reaching out to the U.S. President Donald Trump, to give the country a 100-day grace period in order for the country to address Nigeria’s worsening security. situation.
He said, “I almost spoke last month when I heard the speech of my in-law, the president. When I heard that section that spoke about security that displaced people have returned to their villages. I almost said the one who wrote that speech for my president, my in-law, does not like him.
“If you put it that way, then my conclusion would be that there are several people around my beloved in-law who are not telling him the truth.
“Our president inherited this problem. It started before him. I’m an applied mathematician; I’m more interested in just getting the problem solved.
“Let the government use diplomatic methods to convince President Trump to give us 100 days of grace. Call our service chiefs , fortunately, they are new and let them either perform within three months or resign”.
