Adebayo Adenrele

The Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), Ado-Ekiti Branch has called on residents of the state to hire qualified engineers to construct their building projects, saying contractors who understand the know-how of the profession are more reliable than quacks.

This was just as the association sympathised with the owner of the collapsed building along bank road, Ado-Ekiti.

The structure which collapsed over the weekend as a result of rainstorm, was one of the many structures affected by the heavy downpour.

The branch Chairman, Engineer Omotola Alawode, who confirmed that no life was lost, emphasized on the need for the residents to opt for structures that would stand the test of time.

She said in part, “The Nigerian Society of Engineers wants to condone with the owner of the property that collapsed at the Secretariat Road, Ado-Ekiti.

“We thank God that there was no any loss of life during the catastrophic events that happened on Saturday.

“We want to use this opportunity to campaign again to all the citizens and law abiding, occupant of Ekiti states against building collapse.

“We want to appeal to the general populate that any building that you want to do, whether a skyscraper or any structural work that you want to do, you should consult the Nigerian Society of Engineers to give you a more qualified engineer, resident engineer, and a consultant that will bring out the beauty of your work and that can make your building stand for eternity”.
