A Nigerian Football youngster and Molde player, Daniel Daga, 19 has been sentenced to six months in prison having been found guilty by Romsdal District Court in Nordmøre of having a sexual activity with a female counterpart without consent.

The verdict was announced on Tuesday afternoon and the 19-year-old midfielder must also pay 10,000 kroner in legal costs.

Daga joined Molde ahead of the 2025 season and played 17 games for the Blues last year and he had also made over 10 appearances for Nigeria and had represented the U20 World Cup this summer.

The player had, through his defense attorney, notified an appeal of the verdict but the case is therefore not legally binding and it will be processed further in the legal system.

In December, Molde had announced that the player would be taken out of training and matches “for the time being”.

The club now writes that the player will not be part of the match squad until further notice due to the situation and the ongoing legal process.

NEWSTODAYNG gathered that Daga will be the fifth Nigerian player to be convicted of the same offence after Segun Ikudehinbu, Godwin Okpara, Akinkunmi Amoo and Sanmi Odelusi.
