The newly deployed Commissioner of Police in Ekiti State, Micheal Falade has pledged to adopt a people-friendly approach to policing, while also declaring war against criminal activities in the state.
Addressing Journalists during his official resumption at the Headquarters along old Iyin road, the Commissioner maintained a firm and uncompromising stance against criminal activities, describing his appointment as a significant milestone in his career and expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve.
Falade assured residents that his leadership would prioritise the protection of lives and property through professionalism, integrity, and respect for human rights.
He also paid tribute to his predecessor, AIG Joseph Eribo, acknowledging his contributions to policing in the state and pledging to build on the foundation and legacy established during his tenure.He emphasized that anyone found engaging in criminal acts would face the full weight of the law.
CP Falade urged residents to actively support security efforts by volunteering timely and credible information, stressing the importance of intelligence gathering in crime prevention.
He noted that criminal elements make up only a small fraction of the population and assured that with collective cooperation, they could be effectively rooted out.
His words, “It excites me so much to address you today as the new Commissioner of Police of our dear State – Ekiti State. This is definitely one of the most exciting moments of my career so far. I am deeply grateful to God for this privilege to serve.
“I equally appreciate the Chairman Police Service Commission, DIG Hashimu Salihu Argungu (Rtd), as well as the Inspector General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, psc(+), NPM, for seeing me fit and worthy of this position and incredible opportunity to serve the good people of Ekiti State.
“I wish to acknowledge the contributions of my predecessor, AIG Joseph Eribo. I am committed to sustaining and building upon the legacy he established during his tenure as Commissioner of Police. To the government and the good people of Ekiti State, I want to clearly state that I am here to serve you all with honesty, fairness, integrity, humility, and respect for citizens’ rights. I will prioritize the security of lives and property of all residents of the State.
“Working with my team, other sister agencies, and relevant stakeholders, we shall create an atmosphere where everyone can sleep peacefully and go about their lawful activities without fear or threat. We will achieve this through intelligence-led policing, visibility policing, raids on criminal hideouts, bush combing operations, and other crime prevention measures.
“I am not unaware of the security challenges faced by some States bordering Ekiti State. Working with other security agencies, local security outfits, and relevant partners, I will ensure that our borders are well fortified against criminal infiltration.
“Of course, my set goals as mentioned above and more can only be achieved with citizens’ cooperation, collaboration, and support. I therefore solicit our collective synergy and cooperation to enable us win big.
“All hands must be on deck in the fight against crimes and criminality, and safety for all and sundry. We must all come together to fight our common enemies – the criminal elements. I will ensure that the principle of the rule of law and respect for human rights prevail. Under my leadership, no violation of human rights by my officers or fellow citizens will be entertained.
“To all my officers, your welfare and rights will not be taken for granted. Continue to do your best to serve the citizens rightly. Be diligent, professional, firm but approachable, avoid violations of citizens’ rights, and all forms of corrupt practices. Only by doing these can we be citizens’ friends indeed.
“In conclusion, an uphill task and can only be successfully executed when everyone plays their role and participates actively in the campaign against crime. I encourage all residents of Ekiti State to take an active part in supporting the police.
“My administration will be friendly to law-abiding citizens but tough on crime and criminal elements. I will establish quicker responses to complaints. I therefore call on all Security Agencies, Unions, Associations, Religious Leaders, NGOs, NANS, the Mass Media, and members of the public to support and collaborate with the Police in order to ensure a crime-free society.
