2027 Poll: Owo/Ose Women League rallies behind Abebi

Adebayo Adenrele

…says she remains better candidate to champion improved enforcement mechanisms for female gender

The Owo/Ose Women League, under the leadership of Dr Olufunke Agbaje, has declared its full support for the candidature of Abebi Aruwajoye-Adeniseun in the 2027 House of Representatives election, describing her as a tested advocate who understands the urgent need to protect women and girls from abuse.

Speaking on behalf of women across the Owo/Ose Federal Constituency, Dr Agbaje said the group’s endorsement was driven by Abebi’s longstanding commitment to defending the rights of vulnerable groups, particularly women and children who continue to face neglect, violence and systemic marginalisation.

The League stressed that the rising cases of child abuse, gender-based violence and economic hardship among women in rural and semi-urban communities demand urgent legislative attention.

According to the group, Abebi’s track record as a vocal advocate for women and child rights positions her as the right candidate for the Constituency under All Progressive Congress (APC) to champion stronger laws, improved enforcement mechanisms and community-based interventions to curb abuse.

Dr Agbaje noted the Women League is confident in Abebi’s capacity to push for policies that will empower women economically, ensuring they are not trapped in cycles of poverty that often expose them and their children to exploitation.

The group said, “Our voices as women cannot be ignored any longer. We are mothers, caregivers and the backbone of our communities, yet our children especially the girl-child remain exposed to abuse, exploitation and neglect.

“Hon. Abebi Aruwajoye-Adeniseun represents hope for a new kind of leadership that will prioritise protection, justice, and dignity for every woman and child.

“She understands that protecting women and girls goes beyond words, it requires action, from creating safe spaces to ensuring access to education, healthcare and financial support. When women are empowered, children are safer, families are stronger and communities thrive.

“We are not just supporting a candidate; we are standing for the future of our daughters. With Hon. Abebi Aruwajoye-Adeniseun, we believe a safer, fairer and more inclusive Owo/Ose is possible.”
