The candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, for the Ekiti North Senatorial seat, Hon. Cyril Fasuyi has said that his intention to contest was not out of desire to get power or make money but to touch many more lives and facilitate developmental projects to the state.

Fasuyi said that his long time dream has been to have a seat at the National Assembly and make laws that would fast track the nation’s Socio-Economic development.

Fasuyi who spoke in Ado Ekiti while playing host to leaders of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Southwest Zone noted that his greatest joy would be to win the general election come 2023.

Fasuyi who had contested both the Senate and House of Representatives seats on several occasions but has not been lucky to make it to the Chambers is very optimistic of victory at the poll.

Fasuyi called on people of his district to vote him with a promise to justify the confidence reposed in him.

He urged media professionals to support the government of Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji whom he described as a blessing to Ekiti having exhibited diligence, loyalty, integrity, transparency and prudence in managing the state resources.

According to him, since the governor assumed office he has been prudent in the management of the meagre resources of the state and has been thinking creatively outside the box to attract investors and boost the state’s IGR.

He said: “Oyebanji is a blessing to Ekiti, he has not changed, the last time I met him, he is still the humble man that I have known, he has not allowed the aura of power to get on him.

“In Nigeria, the tradition is that , whenever a new governor is sworn in, all furniture and beautification materials are changed but reverse is the case this time as Oyebanji has not replaced anything in his office nor apartment.

“Oyebanji has spent two months in office, yet he has not changed the furniture, cottons and mattresses in his office and government house.

“The current vehicles in the convoy of Oyebanji are already getting old and due for new ones but he has continued to manage them just to save money for developmental projects.

“He is a home grown governor, he understands the dynamics of Ekiti politics and he is concern about the welfare of his people above all other interests.

This is why I am appealing to you the media to use your platforms to promote and support this man who has good intention for the state.

Earlier, the Vice President, Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Zone B, Comrade Ronke Samo described Fasuyi as a grassroots politicians who has paid his dues in Ekiti politics.

She prayed God to grant the desires of the senator hopeful but urged him not to ignore the union if elected.

Samo noted that the southwest leaders who were in Ekiti for the Zonal Meeting decided to visit him due to his support for the union over the years.
