2027 Poll: Obi, Kwankwaso plan move to NDC

David Williams

Fresh political realignments appear to be underway ahead of the 2027 electoral cycle, as multiple credible sources reveal that Peter Obi and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso are allegedly preparing to decamp to the National Democratic Coalition (NDC).

Sources familiar with the development say consultations have intensified in recent days, involving key allies, political stakeholders and grassroots structures aligned with both leaders.

While official confirmation is still pending, insiders describe the move as part of a broader strategy to consolidate the OK movement ahead of the 2027 elections.

Obi, the 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party, and Kwankwaso, who contested under the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), both command significant followings, particularly among youth and northern political blocs respectively.

Their potential convergence within the NDC could signal a major shift in Nigeria’s opposition landscape.
