Ekiti THISDAY Correspondent, Prince Gbenga Sodeinde, has put all preparations in place to bury his father, the Olu of Iju-Gbalefa, HRH Oba Olufemi Sodeinde, on Friday, May 8, 2026.
The monarch, who died at 100, is remembered for his legacy of peace, leadership, and community development.
Funeral rites begin on Thursday, May 7, with a Wake Keep and Service of Songs at The African Church Cathedral, Abeokuta, while the final burial holds on Friday, May 8, with a lying-in-state and funeral service at St. Peter’s African Church, Iju-Gbalefa.
A reception will follow at Supreme Distilleries, Sango-Idiroko Road.Tributes have continued to pour in, with many describing his passing as the end of a golden era.
