Political stakeholders in Ekiti State have strongly called for the reelection of Biodun Oyebanji ahead of the 2026 governorship election, saying that the governor deserves another term to consolidate ongoing development projects across the state.
Speaking during the Governor’s campaign tour of Irepodun/Ifelodun Local Government, the legislator representing the Irepodun/Ifelodun II constituency in Ekiti State House of Assembly, Akeem Jamiu said Governor Oyebanji had demonstrated strong commitment to governance and infrastructural development, stressing that the administration still needs more time to fully deliver on its agenda.
Jamiu described the governor as a performer whose projects and leadership style had earned him widespread acceptance across the state, adding that the large turnout witnessed during the governor’s visit to the area was a reflection of the people’s support for the administration and their readiness to ensure his victory at the poll.
Speaking on the APC’s ambitious target of securing 500,000 votes in the election, he expressed confidence that the figure was attainable through aggressive mobilization efforts across the state.
He cited several infrastructural projects executed by the administration, including road construction, street lighting, urban beautification, hospital renovations, school rehabilitation and the ongoing ring road project, as evidence of the governor’s performance.
According to him, Oyebanji had also distinguished himself by completing projects inherited from previous administrations while initiating new ones of his own.
His words, “For the record, this is the first local government under the first civilian government, and the governor has done a lot here. He has done a lot in terms of roads, infrastructure, and many other things.
“We are ready and solidly behind him. We will work together to make sure that he wins the election.
“We have over one million registered voters in the state, so 500,000 is even small. We can even surpass it because we are mobilizing and party members are mobilizing as well.
“You will always have divergent opinions. Members of the opposition will naturally say the government has not done anything, but every discerning mind can see the impact of this government both in the state capital and at the local government level.
“No government can do everything within four years. Maybe that is why we are asking him to repeat the class, so that he can complete the job after eight years”.
Also speaking at the political gathering, Boluwatife Fayose, son of former Governor Ayodele Fayose and an APC aspirant seeking to represent Irepodun/Ifelodun II constituency in Ekiti State’s legislature, described Governor Oyebanji as a unifying figure who had brought together people across political and ideological divides.
He noted that the atmosphere of peace and political stability currently being enjoyed in the state was largely due to the governor’s inclusive leadership style.
Fayose further expressed gratitude to the governor and the APC leadership for giving him the opportunity to contest under the party’s platform, while maintaining confidence in both the governor’s reelection bid and his own chances in the forthcoming primary election.
“In my opinion, this is the first governor who has united the state. He has brought everybody together different parties, different individuals, and people with different ideologies. Everybody is now on the same page.
“The governor has done well. He is the most popular man in the state and widely accepted. By the end of the election, everybody will see it”. He added
