A middle-aged mother of three identified as Olaitan Amire, has been reportedly hacked to death in Ido Ekiti, headquarters of Ido/Osi Local Government Area of Ekiti State.A relative of the deceased, Dare Akinola confirmed that the incident occurred around 8 p.m. on Saturday, June 13, 2026.
According to him, the matter has been reported to the police and two persons have been arrested for interrogation.Akinola said there was an attempted arson on Friday.
He said a passerby raised an alarm after noticing fire at the deceased’s window, which prevented the apartment from being set ablaze.
“But on Saturday she was not so lucky. Her assailants hacked her on the head, legs, face and other parts of her body, which led to her death,” he said.
He added that after killing her, the attackers attempted to set her body ablaze.
They reportedly covered the body with her clothes and other belongings, and placed a container of petrol at the scene.
When contacted, the Ekiti State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Sunday Abutu promised to get back as soon as more information is uncovered.
