BREAKING: CAF condemns clashes at AFCON final, threatens disciplinary actions

Adebayo Adenrele

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has condemned the unacceptable behaviour of some players and officials during the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2025 Final between Morocco and Senegal in Rabat last night.

CAF is reviewing all footage and will refer the matter to competent bodies for appropriate action to be taken against those found guilty.

NEWSTODAYNG recalls that things fell apart when the Referee awarded a penalty to Morocco, after denying the Senegalese players a goal some minutes before the incident.

Brahim Diaz, who had scored five goals in the tournament took the responsibility upon himself to take the decisive kick with a panenka but was saved by the Senegalese goalkeeper, Mendy, before the match later ended in 1-0 in favour of Senegal.
