The Honourable Federal Commissioner of the National Population Commission, NPC, in Ekiti State, Ayodeji Ajayi, said the commission is committed to providing an accurate, reliable and acceptable census.

Ajayi said this in Ado-Ekiti, on Monday, during a “2-Day State Level Workshop on Compendium of Localities” to finalise and present the final list of localities for the 2023 Population and Housing Census.



He reiterated the commission’s readiness to rewrite the history of census in the country by providing accurate and acceptable census for sustainable national development.

The Federal Commissioner enjoined residents and stakeholders to collaborate with the commission towards collating accurate data during the exercise.

His words: “I wish to use this opportunity to assure Nigerians that the Commission is irrevocably committed to positively rewrite the history of censuses in Nigeria and deliver to this great nation accurate, reliable and acceptable census that will be purposefully relevant in the drive towards sustainable national development.

“Preparations for the 2023 Population and Housing Census are on course and the Commission is confident that the prospect for an accurate, reliable and acceptable census appears brighter than ever.”

In his goodwill message, the Resident Electoral Commissioner of Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Ekiti State, Dr Adeniran Tella represented by Temitope Akanmu, commended NPC for the successful collation of compendium of Localities ahead of 2023 General Census and implore Stakeholders to cooperate in ensuring the successful conduct of the exercise.

On his part, the Chairman of Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Ekiti State Council, Comrade Rotimi Ojomoyela, lauded the Honourable Federal Commissioner for carrying the Council along in every of their activities and at the same time, discharging his duties in the state when Ekiti needs him the most.

Ojomoyela vowed that the Council would continue to project the Commission in a good light as it is being done from time immemorial.
