Nigeria’s D’Tigers has been defeated in the second round of the 2023 FIBA World Cup qualifiers by Côte d’Ivoire in Group E on Friday.

D’Tigers, due to a poor start lost by 78 – 66 as they failed to win any of the four quarters throughout the encounter.

After a 14 – 14 points score in the first quarter, Côte d’Ivoire took the second quarter 28 points to D’Tigers’ 22.

The Ivorians also took the third quarter 18 – 16 before rounding it the game off with 18 – 14 point win in the fourth quarter.

The Nigerian team will hope to bounce back from the defeat to Côte d’Ivoire when they will face Guinea later today.

Meanwhile, the group’s other results saw Cape Verde beat Guinea 65 – 48 and Angola overcame Uganda 84 – 62.

The qualifiers will determine the five African teams that would participate at the 2023 FIBA World Cup.
