…urges them to be credible in their News reportage

A former commissioner of information Youths and Sports in Ekiti State, Honourable Lanre Ogunsuyi has charged Journalists to sensitise Nigerians on the importance of voting in the the 2023 general election.

He also stressed on the need for Journalists to embrace credibility in their News reportage so to avoid misleading people and to maintain the integrity of their media houses.

Ogunsuyi who gave the charge during a lecture organised by the NUJ chairman Federal information chapel, Mrs Yemisi Omotola to mark the end of her tenure also enjoined Journalists not to work at the detriment of themselves saying one should strive to tell the Story rather becoming the news.

The Chairman, Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Ekiti State Council, Comrade Rotimi Ojomoyela also urged Journalists in the state to be unbiased and professional in their reportage during the 2023 election and to be security conscious as only the living can report happenings.

He also commended the organiser of the programme while calling on Journalists in the State to always endeavor to participate in NUJ activities and to always attend her Congress.

The NUJ Chairman also decried the challenges journalists are facing which include unpaid salary, being used as casual staff among others.
