Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu has said in a video message that Israel is at war with 22 killed and many injured during a surprise attack by Palestinian Terrorists, Hamas.
The attack which began early on Saturday, involved infiltrations across Israel’s borders via land, sea, and air.
NEWSTODAYNG gathered that at least 22 Israelis lost their lives and over 500 sustained injuries due to the attack.
Israel’s defense minister, Yoav Gallant, has warned Hamas that this attack was a serious mistake.
Earlier, Hamas military leader Mohammed Deif launched “Operation Al-Aqsa Flood” and called on Palestinians worldwide to resist oppression by the Israeli forces.
Deif called on all Palestinians to confront Israel, stating that, ” we’ve decided to say enough is enough.” He emphasized that today marks the greatest battle to end the last occupation on Earth. The Israeli military warned Israeli citizens near the Gaza Strip that Hamas would face severe consequences for their actions and instructed them to stay indoors.
It was also gathered that Palestinian fighters in the town of Sderot opened fire on bystanders, and videos circulating on social media show uniformed Palestinians fighting in the border region.
Another video depicts a jubilant crowd surrounding a burning Israeli tank. Israeli jets initiated airstrikes in Gaza as part of “Operation Iron Swords,” while Israeli soldiers engaged in ground combat near the Palestinian territory.
Israel’s army spokesman Richard Hecht has said that, βWeβre fighting right now. We are engaged in combat in certain areas near the Gaza Strip. As of right now, our troops are engaged in combat on the ground.”
Currently, there’s active fighting happening near the Gaza Strip. Israeli airstrikes have caused loud explosions and sadly, there’s been a confirmed fatality.
