The Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC) has named 100m Women’s hurdles world record holder, Tobi Amusan as Team Nigeria flagbearer for the opening ceremony of the 2024 Paris Olympics.
She becomes the first athlete from Athletics in 20 years, since Mary Onyali at the Athens 2004 Games, to have such an honour.
In another development, the NOC also announced Badminton male star, Anuoluwapo Opeyori as the General Team captain for Nigeria in Paris.
Nigeria will compete in Athletics, Badminton, Basketball, Boxing, Canoeing, Cycling, Football, Table Tennis, Taekwondo, Weightlifting and Wrestling at the summer Olympics from 26 July to 11 August 2024, while a total of 88 athletes will represent the country in different sports.
