The wife of the Ekiti state governor, Erelu Bisi Fayemi has disclosed that Five thousand women in Ekiti State will be given access to free cancer Check.
She said this in Ado-Ekiti at the flag off of cervical cancer secondary prevention pilot project in the State.
According to her, the move is targeted at checking increasing cases of cancer patients in the State.
She also noted that after the five thousand free beneficiaries, others would be screen with little amount of money.
In a remark, the Commissioner for health and human Services, DR Oyebanji Filani explained that the step was part of governor kayode Fayemi led administration to ensure early detection and treatment of cancer.
The event was attended by representatives of WHO, CHAI and UNICEF, who pledged their continuous support to help residents of Ekiti have access to quality health services delivery.
The programme also featured launch of Ekiti State Cancer Control policy and plan and distribution of cancer thermal coagulation equipment to ten health facilities in the state including EKSUTH, Okesa, ijero Ikole, ilawe.
