The Ekiti State will vaccinate over 500,000 Children between 0 and 5 years against Polio during the next round of immunization that would hold between Saturday,11th and Tuesday,14th November,2023.

The information was revealed in Ado-Ekiti during the meeting of
State Social Mobilisation Committee of the Ekiti State Primary Health Care Development Agency in preparation for the commencement of the Exercise.

In their separate messages at the meeting ,the Executive Secretary of
the State Health Care Development Agency, Dr. Gilbert Seluwa, Director,
Disease Control and lmmunization, Dr. Nicholas Ojo and the
Representative of the Federal Agencies, Robert Fagun appreciated the positive attitude of nursing mothers towards previous
immunization exercises in the State, noting that Federal and State
Governments committed several millions of Naira to make the vaccine available.

The added that stakeholders involved in the immunization
exercise must ensure that the set target are met as the all eligible
Children are immunized to guarantee their health status.

“The high infant mortality rate of the nation today can be
drastically reduced if parents key into the initiatives of government
in its provision of the Vaccines to rid the nation of the childhood
killer diseases.”, Seluwa said.

He appealed to traditional rulers, Market Women, religious leaders,
Medical Practitioners among others to sensitize the people on the importance of ensuring that their children take the Polio
immunization, noting that the more the awareness, the more children
would be immunized during the 4-Day exercise.
