…task Parents, teachers to shun illegal methods of assisting students in achieving academic excellence
The Alumni Association of Moba Grammar School, Otun Ekiti, has announced a N250 million fundraising campaign for the establishment of an Information and Communications Technology (ICT) center to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the citadel of learning.
The National President of the Association, Samuel Bankole stated this on Monday while addressing journalists in Ado-Ekiti, to reel out the activities lined up for the 4-day celebration.
He stated that the School, which founded in 1965 has produced many change makers who have excelled tremendously in their chosen career.
Bankole explained that the activity, which is the first anniversary since the inception of the learning center, would commence on Wednesday with a promise to be a worthwhile event that would greatly contribute to the progress of the School.
The President noted that the ICT center will improve digital literacy, enhance learning experience and bolster problem-solving skills among the students.
He stressed that the launching of the fundraising campaign which would take place on Saturday, would have in attendance the governor of Ekiti State, Biodun Oyebanji, among other personalities.
When asked on how government can revive education, Bankole urged parents and teachers to avoid illegal methods of assisting students in achieving academic excellence, stating that this is crucial for restoring quality and functional education.
“The problem of Nigeria is not the leaders but the followers. Parents and teachers should stop encouraging students to pass through corners to excel so that when future challenges comes, they would know how to navigate”. He added
In his goodwill message, the chairman of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Ekiti State Council, Comrade Kayode Babatuyi prayed for the success of the anniversary with a pledge to propagate the activities of the schools on various media platforms.
Other notable individuals in the association’s entourage include: Chairman, Working Committee, Olufemi Adewunmi, secretary of the committee, Professor Williams Adebayo, Jolasanmi Oluwagbenga, Moba Grammar School principal, among others.
