The Senate of Ekiti State University has announced the suspension of academic activities in the institution for two weeks.
This was disclosed in a press release made by the Vice Chancellor of the institution, Professor Edward Olanipekun earlier today, Tuesday April 11th, 2023.
The press release reads in part: “The Vice Chancellor, Ekiti State University, Ado-Ekiti, Professor Edward Olanipekun, on behalf of the university Senate, has approved the suspension of academic activities on campus for two (2) weeks with effect from today, 11th April 2023.
“Arising from the above, all students at the university are ordered to vacate the campus premises immediately and should not be seen within the campus premises for the next two weeks.
“Parents and guardians are hereby advised to invite their wards home immediately.
Any student found wandering around the university premises does so at his/her own risk.”
Reason for the action of the University’s Senate was not disclosed but it might not be unconnected with the planned protest by the students of institution as a result of the controversial hike in school fees, which has been generating concern in the state in recent time.
