Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji has called on the newly inaugurated governing council members and management of three higher Institutions in the State to devise a rescue agenda on how to reposition the Institutions to enviable heights.
The new councils inaugurated are Ekiti State University, EKSU, Bamidele Olumilia University of Education, Science, Technology, Ikere-Ekiti, BOUESTI and Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital, EKSUTH.
Oyebanji, who made the remarks in his speech at the government house chamber in Ado-Ekiti, said the Institutions must act rightly and cause a progressive change in the life of the institutions under their care.
He added that the Governing Councils must work assiduously with the management and other stakeholders to end the precarious situations of the Institutions.
In his words, “Forge a way forward on how to end academic instability, students restiveness, unpaid salaries, bureaucratic slackness that makes it impossible to get certificate and transcript ready on time and a whole lot of problems that continue to confront the development of the institutions.
“There has been too many instabilities in the academic calendar if the institutions, especially EKSU, which has greatly eroded stakeholders confidence in its stability and competitiveness.
“I urged the council to work towards ensuring stability in the academic calendar and full accreditation of programmes.”
In his response, the representative of the three council members, Prof. Akin Oyebode, assured the governor that they would do their best to position the Institutions and help the State reclaim its lost glory,
while pledging loyalty and commitment to their new assignment.
The Governing Council of EKSU include Professor Akin Oyebode as the Chairman with Professor Demola Omojola, Chief Bayo Awosemusi, Dr. Israel Ovirhi, Arch Dipo Ajayi, Foluso Olaniyan, Bunmi Akingba, Rotimi Esho, Professor C.O. Kolawole, and
Alhaji Abdusalam Babatunde as members.
EKSUTH Governing Council include Dr Adedamola Dada as the Chairman, with Dr. Adebola Orimadegun, Dr. J. O. Oguntoye, Alhaja Muibat Akingbade, Prince Soji Agunbiade, Ilesanmi Simon Olugbenga, and Adetunji Kolawole as members.
BOUESTI has in its Cabinet Professor Dipo Aina as the Chairman with Professor Dele Olowokudejo, S.I. Folorunso, Alaba Olusola Ibitoba, Iyabo Obasa, Bola Fasuan, Dr. Isah Emmanuel Aileonokhuoya, and Professor Sehinde Oluwatosin as members.
