Following the goalless draw against Republic of Ireland, Super Falcons of Nigeria have qualified for the round of 16 in the ongoing 2023 FIFA women’s World Cup.

Super Falcons played a 0-0 draw against Ireland in their last group stage final match on Monday.

The Falcons is now the first African team to avoid defeat in the group stage of the World Cup.

They qualified second in place on five points behind co-hosts Australia.

This is the third time the Falcons will progress from the group stage.

The first time they got out of the group stage was in 1999 when they got to the quarter-finals.

Also, the nine-time African champions reached the round of 16 at the 2019 edition.

The group’s other game saw Australia thrash Canada 4-0 to bounce back from their loss to the Falcons.
