The President, Civil Rights Congress of Nigeria (CRCN), Shehu Sani has stated that the demands of the Nigeria Labour Congress are legitimate.
The Former lawmaker of Kaduna Central Senatorial District made this known today during an exclusive interview with Arise Tv.
According to him, lack of the government to provide a Ministry and a Minister to negotiate on its behalf is the reason behind the present protest in the country.
Sani however noted that the government can still savage the situation.
“I think it is still something that can be savage. There are two ways the Labour could have acted. The first is this protest and the second is shutting down services nationwide and I have not seen the second option being taken. Because if it was the second option, all the affiliate Labour groups could have joined.
“The Labour are sending a message for the government to negotiate. The Presidential speech came with a lot of promises such as pumping money into the agricultural sector, small business, but you still need someone to negotiate and see all the things implemented”, he said.
When asked if the demands of the Union are unrealistic as regards the increment in minimum wages, repair of the refineries in the country, he noted that the demands are legitimate, but there is lack of communication and a platform for the issue to be addressed.
Also, while addressing the petition levelled against the Former Governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-rufai on the issue of insecurity during the Ministerial nominee screening, Sani stated that El-rufai is a divisive figure.
In his words, “It is unfortunate that Tinubu will bring such a person when he has said that his government will be a clean break from the past and that people he will bring are men of competence, integrity and honour. There are places in the world where what you say can deny you position for life. For Nasir El-rufai, when I say he is a divisive figure, he has demonstrated that as a Governor of Kaduna State.
“For 8years which he has ruled, he has not been fair to a section of the State. He has proven to be one-sided, one that is only about his interest and promoting ethnic bigotry.
“As a Governor of Kaduna State, he has not been able to tackle and handle diversity very well. He failed I that aspect. And he has a history of consistently disobeying court order and has no respect for law. Right now, there are times Kaduna State account is being garnished he disobeyed court order.
” How will somebody in a video promote religious agenda and say something that irritates, incites and has the capacity of tearing up. How can a country that has the Senate not grill him for the nation to know that next time when he is there, he will not do such a thing. How can a law have someone who constantly be violates the institution of government and you will not ask him such a question”. He added
